NEW YORK — Jorden Bennett (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) of the St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's basketball team was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office in its second weekly report of the season on Monday.
In the first three games of the season, Bennett averaged 14 points and eight points. Last Monday in his debut at Gwynedd Mercy, he scored 12 points and hauling nine boards. He followed the performance by an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double while playing over 30 minutes in the Bears' overtime win at Messiah on Friday night. In the Messiah Tip-Off Tournament final on Saturday against Washington and Lee, Bennett posted a stat line of 12 points, five rebounds, and four blocks.
The first year leads the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocks after the Bears' opening week. He ranks second in the Skyline in blocks and blocks per game while placing inside the top five in most rebounding categories on the young season.
The Bears take The Hill Center floor for the first time this season on Tuesday, November 18 at 6pm against Medgar Evers College.
