Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Behind three players in double figures, the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's basketball team picked up a 79-71 triumph over the SUNY College at Old Westbury on Tuesday night from The Hill Center. The Bears improve to 2-3 in conference play.
The Staten Island trio of Jonathan Reno (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic), Justin Nazon (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner), and Adam Jasaraj (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) combined to score 52 points; dropping 30, 12, and 10 points, respectively.
How it Happened
Despite a team-leading nine points from Reno in the half, the Panthers led for much of the period; holding an advantage of no more than seven. Jasaraj also collected 11 caroms and forced a pair of steals in the first 20 minutes, aiding the Bears to a mere 31-26 deficit at the intermission.
The hole grew to 10 but a string of Reno triples during an 11-2 run to cut the gap to one, 40-39. Following an Old Westbury bucket, Jasaraj drained a three pointer on the ensuing possession to tie the contest at 42. At 10:56, Chris Tracy (Glendale, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) three ball gave SJBK a 48-46 edge, a lead they failed to relinquish. The Bears saw a 12-point lead at 1:26 thanks to a Jasaraj trey before holding on for the eight-point result, 79-71.
