BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's soccer team beat Mount Saint Mary College, 2-1, over a nail-biting 90 minutes on Wednesday afternoon from Aviator Field.
How it Happened
In the 21st minute,
Arturo Franco (Brooklyn, N.Y) provided a through ball to
Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France), who went beat two defenders and found the net in the bottom left of the goal. Two minutes later,
Matthew Cottone (Oakdale, N.Y.) crossed the ball from the right side; leading to a one touch finish by
Diego Volpe (Long Branch, N.J). The Bears held the 2-0 lead at the break.
Mount Saint Mary got on the board with a goal in the 70' minute. The SJBK defense was able to hold off the Knights for the remainder of the match; clinching the 2-1 result.
For the Bears
- Naci scored his 10th goal this campaign.
- Volpe netted his first goal of the season.
- Cottone handed out his first collegiate assist.
- Reigning Skyline Co-Defensive Player of the Week Alex Castro (Miami, Fla.) came up with two saves.
