No. 4 Men’s Soccer Ends Historic 2024 Campaign with #SkylineMSOC Semifinal Defeat to No. 1 St. Joseph’s (Long Island)

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — A historic 2024 campaign for the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's soccer team came to an end on Wednesday night, falling to No. 1 St. Joseph's (Long Island) 0-1 in the Skyline Conference Championship semifinal.

How it Happened

The two sides combined for 16 shots in the first half with the Bears having six shots on target compared to the Golden Eagles' two. However, neither side broke the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.

Despite the hosts outshooting the Bears in the second half, 9-5, Brooklyn kept Long Island off the board for much of the stanza. SJLI's Jack Pulisic broke the stalemate in the 76th minute to take the lead. SJBK's chances in the waning moments of the match proved unsuccessful as the Golden Eagles held on to the victory.

For the Bears

  • The Bears finish with a 8-7-3 overall record and a 6-3-2 mark in Skyline play; both are the most in a single season in program history and under head coach Adam Brunengo.

  • The team's .528 win percentage and .636 win percentage are also the program's best in its 13-year history.
