BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y.—Brooklyn women's basketball team earned a 65-37 win against SUNY Old Westbury on Wednesday evening at The Hill Center.Â
How It Happened
Following a Panther free throw, the Bears took the lead on a Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.) jumper; failing to give up the lead throughout the game, leading 14-8 after one. Thanks to a 14-0 run midway through the second quarter, their lead grew to 36-19 at the half as Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas) had 12 points, nine of which came in the second quarter.Â
Newcomer Jasmine Chan-Clayton (Melbourne, Australia) had a career night, scoring 11 of her 16 points in the second half, leading all players. Perez and Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.) each contributed a combined 10 points in the span as the Bears concluded their three-game homestand with a 28-point victory.
