THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) baseball team dropped both games of their Skyline Conference doubleheader against SUNY Maritime College on Saturday afternoon, 0-5 and 0-7.
How it Happened (Game 1)
The Privateers did their damage in the second inning. Holding a 1-0 lead, a grand slam off the bat of Anthony Madigan gave the hosts their 5-0 advantage.
Maritime weathered an SJBK bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh as they held on to the 5-0 margin.
How it Happened (Game 2)
A pitchers duel ensued between the Bears' Dylan Cantwell (Island Park, N.Y./Long Beach) and Maritime starter Brandon Stanley, keeping their opposition off the board while conceding a combined 12 hits.
The Privateers broke the deadlock in the seventh as Madigan and Freddy Forgione each recorded two-RBI singles as part of a seven-run stanza en route to the game-two win.
For the Bears (Game 1)

Brian Sanchez (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H Calhoun), who went 1-for-3 at the plate, was dealt the defeat on the bump (0-1).

Matt Arcati (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) went 3-for-4 with a stolen base.

Cantwell tossed six scoreless innings, recording three strikeouts as he settled for a no-decision.
