Farmingdale State Takes Two From Softball

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) softball team fell to Farmingdale State College, 0-2 and 0-9, on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened (Game 1)

The Rams did all of their scoring in the fourth inning, courtesy on a pair of bunts that scored Jenna Giliberti and Bailey Hammock.

The Bears would struggle to rattle FSC starter Allie Stanya as Vivian Garcia (Eastvale, Calif./Eleanor Roosevelt), Lauren Van Der Kamp (Sacramento, Calif./Rosemont) and Arianna Heinsch (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) combining to bat 4-for-9 in the defeat.

Tossing all six innings, Autumn Poppett (San Diego, Calif./Mission Hills) struck out a pair of Rams.

How it Happened (Game 2)

A pair of Farmingdale State runs scored in their half of the first and third innings. Game two starter Ava Shorr picked up where Stanya left off, keeping the Bears off the board.

Garcia again broke through the Rams' pitching with a pair of hits but it proved to be insufficient.

A six-run fifth inning saw the run rule enforced, giving the Rams a 9-0 result.

Leila Heller (Belle Chasse, La./Belle Chasse) was dealt the pitching defeat, lasting five innings in the circle.
