NEW YORK — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn women's volleyball team completed a sweep of Yeshiva University on Friday afternoon, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16), from the ARC Gym at Baruch College.
How it Happened
The Maccabees kept things close early in the first set, holding the Bears' lead to 12-9. However, a 13-2 stretch followed to give SJBK the set win, 25-11. Martina Urgo (Astoria, N.Y./St. John's Prep) opened the second stanza with a pair of kills and an ace as part of a 5-1 start. She finished with six kills in the set as the Bears maintained the momentum and earned a 25-15 win.
With five kills to begin the third set, Yeshiva possessed a 7-5 lead. Eight unanswered points for the Bears followed as Taylor Knight (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley) served up a trio of aces in the span. Juliette DiVittorio (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) and Rachel Meltsin (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) each had a pair of aces in the set while Knight finished with seven kills in the frame, propelling the navy and gray to a 25-16 win and a 2-0 start to Skyline Conference play.

Knight neared a triple-double thanks to 16 kills, 12 digs, and seven service aces.
