KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn women's basketball team saw their three-game win streak come to a close on Saturday afternoon, falling to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 39-66.
How it Happened
Thanks to a pair of triples from Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.), the Bears possessed a 10-6 lead midway through the opening quarter. The Mariners closed the period on a 15-2 run, leading 21-12. The Bears would get out of their scoring slump on a Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas) layup at 6:31 in the second, trailing 28-14. However, USMMA held on to the advantage entering halftime, 38-23.
A 19-7 third quarter for the hosts further separated themselves from St. Joseph's, 57-30, ultimately winning their 11th consecutive Skyline Conference game, 66-39.
