KINGS POINT, N.Y — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) women's soccer team fell by a score of 0-9 on Friday evening to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Brooks Stadium. Prior to kickoff, the Bears honored their four seniors; Casey Hobbs (Suprise, Ariz.), Ashley Pintado (Jackson Heights, N.Y.), Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.), and Katherine Berrios (MAmaroneck, N.Y.); for their commitment to the program during their time at St. Joseph's.
The Mariners struck first in the 9th minute thanks to a goal from Lauren Enterline who would score again less than six minutes later to give USMMA an early 2-0 lead. Enterline would complete the first half hat trick with a goal in the 25th minute. Sophomore scorekeeper Lindsay Dominguez (Bellerose, N.Y.) made 16 first-half saves but the Bears trailed 6-0 at the break.Â
USMMA would score three more goals in the second half, making the final score 9-0 when the final whistle blew. Dominguez finished with 25 saves on the day while Hobbs and Barrios registered shots.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, October 22 against Yeshiva University from Aviator Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
