KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team honored seniors Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y.) and Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y.) ahead of their match with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Friday night at Brooks Stadium. The Bears lost their matchup with the Mariners, 0-5.
The Mariners' potent offense produced 37 shots over 90 minutes, 16 of which were on target. They got on the board at 20' before adding to their tally five minutes later. USMMA added a third just before halftime, entering the break with a 3-0 advantage.
Merchant Marine added a pair of goals in the second half to see out the 5-0 result. Rookie goalkeeper Edwin Sacramento (Brooklyn, N.Y.) stood tall in goal with 11 saves.
The Bears host Yeshiva University at Aviator Field in their regular-season home finale on Wednesday, October 22 at 4 pm.
