MADISON, N.J. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn baseball dropped a 3-13 decision to FDU-Florham in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon.
How it HappenedÂ
Christopher Stegmuller (Baldwin, N.Y.) got the Bears on the board in the first inning with a two-run single. The Devils responded by tying the game in the bottom half of the frame and pulling ahead 4-2 with a pair of bases-loaded walks. The hosts took control with a nine-run surge over the next two innings, highlighted by a seven-run second, extending their lead to 13-2 by the end of the third. The Bears' third run came in the sixth as Doug Paider (Glendale, N.Y.) crossed the plate, confirming the 10-run deficit.
Stegmuller, Paider, Joe Meglio (Howard Beach, N.Y.), and Matthew Quinones (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) all had hits on the afternoon while Paider, Matt Arcati (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Michael Gardener (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored the team's runs.
On the bump, Nicholas Mirabella (Whitestone, N.Y.) suffered his first defeat of the campaign.
