PALISADES PARK, N.J. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn baseball team came away with a season-ending sweep of Yeshiva University on Friday afternoon, winning game one 9-5 before taking game two, 5-1.
How it Happened (Game 1)
A pair of singles in the second and third innings gave the Bears an early 2-0 edge. The Maccabees took advantage of SJBK mishaps to lead 3-2 in the the fourth but the Bears responded with four runs in their half of the frame. Doubles from Miguel Toribio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Chris Perez (Bronx, N.Y.) followed by a Joe Provvisiero (Ozone Park, N.Y.) single gave the Bears a 6-3 lead.
Yeshiva closed the gap to 6-5, but the Bears again distanced themselves, adding three runs in the sixth to take the game, 9-5.
How it Happened (Game 2)
Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, a Camerada bases-clearing triple extended the St. Joseph's' margin to 5-1. A string of RBI singles from Michael Gardener (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Perez, and Christopher Stegmuller (Baldwin, N.Y.) brought the lead to 8-1.
St. Joseph's added to its lead with three runs in the fourth and two more in the seventh. Yeshiva managed to score seven runs in the contest but could not trim their deficit any further resulting in the Bears' 13-7 win.
For the Bears (Game 1)

Camerada logged his fourth three-hit game of the season, picking up a triple, an RBI, and a run scored.

Paider finished 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

Provvisiero and Gardener each registered a pair of hits.

Joe Meglio (Howard Beach, N.Y.) went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Mike Dedella (Pemberton, N.J.) had seven strikeouts in 3.2 innings, settling for a no-decision.

Nicholas Mirabella (Whitestone, N.Y.) pitched 2.1 innings and struck out three Maccabees for his first collegiate win.
For the Bears (Game 2)

Camerada, Gardener, and Andrew Ardito (Brooklyn, N.Y.) all had three hits and combined for five RBI.

Stegmuller and Paider batted 2-for-3 with a run scored, linking up for a combined three RBI.

Toribio had two RBI and as many runs.

Ardito struck out four on the bump, earning the win.
