NEWBURGH, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn softball team trekked back up to Newburgh to complete their series with Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday morning. The Knights came away with a 3-1 victory.
How it Happened
A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning saw the hosts bite first. Knights starting pitcher Grace MacDonald limited the Bears to one hit, an Audrey Scott (Rocklin, Calif.) single in the third, and a pair of base runners over the first six innings.
Mount Saint Mary added a pair of runs in the sixth but the Bears would mount a comeback bid. Payton Walker (Eastvale, Calif.) led the top of the seventh with a single before scoring on an error. However, Walker's run was the only one the Bears can produce, falling 3-1 to put a pin on the regular season.
For the Bears
-
Scott and Walker each batted 1-for-3.
-
Makena Burr (Foster City, Calif.) finishes the regular season with an 11-7 pitching mark. She struck out two batters in the contest.
