NEWARK, N.J. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) women's soccer team returned to the pitch on Monday night, falling 0-8 to Rutgers University-Newark.
The Bears fell behind early as the Scarlet Raiders scored four times in the opening 15 minutes. Isabella Argento (Levittown, N.Y.) made several saves to keep SJBK within reach, but the hosts added two more goals late in the half to take a 6-0 lead into the break.
The second half saw a slower pace, with Rutgers-Newark adding two goals to finish with an 8-0 victory over St. Joseph's. Argento finished with eight saves between the sticks.
The Bears open Skyline Conference play on Saturday, September 19 against SUNY Maritime College. Kickoff from Throggs Neck is scheduled for 12 pm.
