THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team fell to SUNY Maritime, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Edwin Sacramento (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made a pair of early saves before the hosts broke through in the 15th minute. The Privateers added two goals in the 21st minute before Yakob Muller completed his brace in the 32nd to give Maritime a 4-0 halftime advantage. Matthew Cottone (Oakdale, N.Y.) produced two first-half attempts for the Bears, including an early shot on goal.
SJBK kept Maritime off the board for most of the second half, with Cottone adding two more attempts and Alexander Kudrick (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) forcing a save in the 65th minute. Sacramento made several stops before the Privateers added the final goal in the 85th minute, earning a win in what was also their conference opener.
The Bears take on Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday, September 23 at 4 pm. The match will take place on the campus of SUNY Purchase.
