Second-Half Frenzy Sees Men’s Soccer Salvage Draw Against CCNY

NEW YORK — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team collected its second consecutive 2–2 draw on Saturday afternoon, playing to a stalemate against the City College of New York on Randall's Island.

The Beavers opened the scoring in the first half despite the Bears producing more chances in the attack, holding the visitors to the slim edge at the end of the first 45 minutes.

After CCNY extended its lead to 2–0 early in the second half, the Bears' persistence paid off in the 76th minute when Alexander Kudrick (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) capitalized on a rebound in front of the net. Late-game dramatics followed as Jared Nereo Flores (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drew a foul with under five minutes left, allowing Francisco Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to slot home the equalizer on the free kick. St. Joseph's had a chance to walk it off late, but a final save sealed the 2–2 draw.

Garcia paced the offense with a match-high five shots, flanked by Flores and Bryan Garcia (Flushing, N.Y.), who logged four each; together, the trio tested the keeper with four shots on goal. Kudrick and Veton Dudus (Murray Hill, N.Y.) provided additional depth up front with multi-shot outings, while Edwin Sacramento (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied a pair of saves to anchor the defense.

The Bears host Medgar Evers College on Wednesday, September 9 at 4 pm from Aviator Field.
