Lukasz Cygan joins Head Coach Joseph Cocozello on the sidelines for his tenth season.

An integral part of the Bears recruiting efforts, Cygan helped attain two of the most prolific student-athletes in Bears history, David Louison '15 and Michael Megafu '16. In addition to Louison's and Megafu's numerous playing accolades, both went on to become the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-Americans—Louison (first team) and Megafu (second team).

Cygan was a four-year student-athlete at St. Joseph’s, graduating in 2007 and serving as co-captain his senior year. Cygan led the Bears to three straight Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference (HVMAC) regular season titles and United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) appearances from 2005-2007. He was also the 2007 Eastern Athletic Conference (EAC) Tournament MVP as the Bears took home the regular season and tournament titles.

Prior to attending St. Joseph’s, Cygan was a 2003 graduate of Xaverian High School. Under head coach Mark Spelman, Cygan was a Varsity “B” two-year player and co-captain his senior year.

Prior to Cygan's SJC coaching career, he was a Xaverian High School summer basketball coach from 2002-2007 and a Staten Island Fast Break summer basketball camp coach from 2007-2008.

In addition to coaching, Cygan is an attending physician and assistant residency director for the emergency department at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
