Second-Half Goals Propel Men’s Soccer Past Sarah Lawrence

YONKERS, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's soccer team topped Sarah Lawrence College, 2-0, on Saturday night from Fleming Field.

Both teams had plenty of chances to score in the first half, registering a combined 17 shots, but neither could break the scoreless deadlock before the break. A poor defensive clearance inside the 18-yard box from the Gryphons allowed Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France) to capitalize and draw first blood in the 56th minute.

Naci confirmed the Bears' 2-0 result with an 83rd-minute header.

For the Bears

  • Naci netted his ninth goal of the season. Totaling 11 shots on the night, the senior leads the Skyline Conference with 60 and 5.45 shots per match.

  • Six other Bears registered multiple shots with Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y.) and Diego Volpe (Long Branch, N.J.) each finishing with three shots each.

  • Alex Castro (Miami, Fla.) made four saves en route to his second-consecutive clean sheet.

Up Next

The Bears are back at Aviator Field on Wednesday, October 16, at 3:30 p.m. to take on Mount Saint Mary College.
