BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Farmingdale State College on Saturday evening from Aviator Field; solidifying the Bears' place in the Skyline Conference Tournament.

Seniors Diego Volpe (Long Branch, N.J.), Arturo Franco (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France), and Matthew Kieblesz (Middle Village, N.Y.) were all honored as part of the program's Senior Night ceremony prematch.

How it Happened

Both teams were limited to six total shots in the opening 45 minutes with Volpe seeing his shot saved by the FSC keeper.

Eight minutes into the second stanza, Volpe played a corner kick that found a towering Kieblesz who headed in the contest's lone goal, 1-0. Kieblesz and the Bears' defense held the Rams to one shot in the second half to secure the triumph.

For the Bears

  • Alex Castro (Miami, Fla.) registered a save and his third clean sheet.

  • The Bears secured their first Skyline Conference playoff berth in program history and their second-ever postseason appearance, following a semifinal place in the 2014 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
