BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn women's basketball team suffered their first defeat of the season, falling to Brooklyn College, 52-86, on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
The Bulldogs started the game with an 11-0 run. The Bears began to chip away at the deficit late in the first quarter and throughout the second, closing the gap to just three points, 33-30, with 3:03 left in the half, fueled by three-pointers from Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas) and Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.). Brooklyn College maintained a narrow 37-34 lead at halftime.
A 12-point run by the hosts to start the second half proved too much for St. Joseph's to overcome, as the Bulldogs' defense stifled the Bears' offense throughout the remainder of the game. With their scoring limited and unable to mount a comeback, Brooklyn College cruised to an 86-52 victory.

-
Perez logged a game-high 27 points while collecting 12 rebounds.
