BROOKLYN N.Y—The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's basketball team was overpowered by the John Jay College 67-89 on Wednesday night in non-conference action at The Hill Center.
How It Happened
Both teams struggled to find the bottom of the net over the first six and a half minutes until a mid-range jumpshot from Maven Cummings put the Bears up 6-4. John Jay would answer with a three-pointer to spark a 38-17 run over the next 9:48 to put the Bloodhounds up 42-23 with 3:17 remaining in the first half. The Bears would then go on a run of their own, spearheaded by Joshua Gordon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Timothy Richardson (Ozone Park, N.Y.), to go into the break down 47-37.
St. Joseph's came out strong in the second half; a three-point basket from Adam Jasaraj (Staten Island, N.Y.) at 17:10 cut the John Jay lead to 49-47. It was the closest the Bears would get as the visitors outscored the Bears 40-19 over the last 16 minutes while holding the Bears to 4-19 shooting and 0-9 from the three point line.
