STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) baseball team opened their Skyline Conference schedule with a pair of defeats to the SUNY College at Old Westbury, 4-9 and 2-22, on Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened (Game 1)
Eight runs crossed the plate for the Panthers in the first two innings before the Bears got on the board thanks to Vincent Camerada's (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp) single to score Miguel Toribio (Brooklyn, N.Y./Williamsburg Prep).
Following a throwing error in the bottom of the fourth to score Nick Tapio (Sacramento, Calif./Christian Brothers), Camerada sent Toribio home for the second time in the game followed by Brian Sanchez's (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H Calhoun) RBI single reduced the SJBK deficit in half, 8-4.
An Old Westbury RBI single in the sixth confirmed their 9-4 result.
