STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) baseball team resumed non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-10 to John Jay College.
How it Happened
Both starting pitchers kept their opposition off the board for much of the contest, with scoring beginning in the top of the fifth inning. In the frame, back-to-back RBI base-hits gave the Bloodhounds a 3-0 lead.
Vincent Camerada (Staten Island, N.Y./New Dorp) singled up the middle with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, making his way into scoring position with a steal of second base. This set up Sean Schneeberg (Sacramento, Calif./Del Oro) who homered to right, trimming the John Jay lead to 3-2.
The visitors tacked on a fourth run in the top of the eight before a grand slam off the bat of Quinten Bowman saw their lead grow to 8-2. The Bears managed to cut the deficit in half in their end of the eighth but two more runs crossed in the top of the ninth to confirm John Jay's 10-4 win.
