ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Bard College on Saturday afternoon. The win was the first for the Bears this season while the deficit snapped the Raptors' 5-0 start to the campaign.
How it Happened
The Raptors tested Christian Chimborazo (Elmhurst, N.Y./Queens Technical) early, firing off a shot from outside the box with the goalkeeper getting a hand on the ball. Bard out-shot the Bears in the first half, 6-1, but were unable to convert; resulting in a scoreless half.
The tables turned in the second half as St. Joseph's was presented with more attacking opportunities. A red card at 77' reduced the Raptors to ten men. Three minutes later, Matthew Kieblesz (Middle Village, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) delivered a pass from his own defensive third to Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) on the opposite end of the field, who then chipped the Bard keeper to break the deadlock and confirm the Bears' win.
For the Bears
-
Naci took three shots with two, including his goal, on target.
-
Chimborazo earned the shutout win, making a pair of saves.
-
The Bears picked up their first-ever win over the Raptors.
