PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's basketball team dropped a 65-72 road decision to St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened

The contest saw 10 ties and three lead changes, all of which occurred in the first half. The Golden Eagles saw a 12-point lead on AJ Esposito's three-point play at 5:05 in the period, 31-19, but the Bears immediately reduced the deficit to two possessions, 31-25. However, SJLI restored their double-figure advantage, leading 39-29 at the end of the opening 20 minutes.

A pair of buckets gave the hosts a 15-point cushion early in the second half. The rest of the half saw the Bears eat away at the Golden Eagle advantage; closing the gap to 53-50 midway through the period on a Justin Nazon (Staten Island, N.Y.) triple. While Patchogue's lead hovered over nine the rest of the way, Brooklyn managed to trim the deficit to three with another three-pointer from Colin Mills (White Plains, N.Y.) with 62 seconds left. Despite this, the Golden Eagles held on for a 72-65 victory.
