BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn women's basketball team secured their third straight victory on Thursday night, defeating the University of Mount Saint Vincent 76-66.

The Bears opened the contest on a 9-2 run ultimately clinching the quarter, 14-6 behind a combined 10 points from Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.) and Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas). Nikki Grech (Northville, Mich.) chipped in seven of the team's 14 points in the second quarter. However, the Dolphins overcame their deficit to lead by as many as six with 30 seconds remaining, 31-25. A Donovan triple with 10 seconds left brought the Bears to within three at the half.
UMSV's lead slipped away in the third quarter as a 7-0 run, led by Donovan and Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.), gave SJBK a 40-37 advantage and finishing the quarter with a one-point lead, 50-49. The Bears carried their momentum into the fourth, with Shanna Bliss (Astoria, N.Y.) contributing 10 points and going 8-for-10 at the free throw line, while Grech added five points. St. Joseph's extended their lead to 15 points with 1:16 remaining and held on to secure a 76-66 victory.

Grech's 20 points mark a career-high for the rookie, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-10 from the stripe. She added six rebounds and a pair of assists.Â

Donovan also totaled 20 points, a season-best. She had five boards and matched Grech's assist total.

All of Bliss' 10 points came in an impactful fourth quarter. She secured a double-double thanks to 12 rebounds, splitting them evenly on both ends of the floor. Bliss also forced three steals.

Perez also finished with a double-double of 11 rebounds and 10 points.

The Bears' current three-game run is their longest such winning streak since winning three in a row in January 2023.
