BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team fell 0–3 to St. Joseph's University, New York (Long Island) on Wednesday afternoon at Aviator Field.
SJLI's Jack Pulisic struck twice in quick succession early in the first half, holding on to the 2-0 lead at the break. The Bears generated their best spell around the half-hour mark with shots from Francesco Di Paolo (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) and Bryan Garcia (Flushing, N.Y.), while goalkeeper Matthew Galetta (Bohemia, N.Y.) made three first-half saves to keep SJBK within reach.
After halftime, Galetta added nine more stops to finish with 12 saves as the visitors continued to press. The Golden Eagles added a late third in the 86th minute to close out the scoring. In addition to Galetta, the Bears' leaders Di Paolo with three shots (one on goal), Garcia with one on target, and Matthew Cottone (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Alexander Kudrick (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) combining for three additional attempts.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 18 at 1:30 pm against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, where seniors Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y.) and Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y.) will be honored in Senior Day ceremonies prior to the match.
