Maritime Outlasts Men's Soccer

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team fell 0–5 on the road to SUNY Maritime College on Saturday evening in Skyline Conference play at Reinhart Field.

The Privateers opened the scoring in the fifth minute and held the 1–0 lead into halftime, despite a strong first-half effort from Matthew Galetta (Bohemia, N.Y.), who recorded five saves before the break.

The hosts added insurance early in the second half and extended their advantage with goals in the 54th, 60th, and 82nd minutes. The Bears created four shots in response, highlighted by an effort on frame from Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y.), while battling to disrupt the Privateers' build-up play.

Galetta finished with 12 saves, stopping five in the opening half and seven more after halftime to anchor the Bears' defensive effort. LaRosa led St. Joseph's with two shots, and Matthew Cottone (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added two additional attempts.

The 2025 season will come to a close on Wednesday, October 29 at 6 pm on the road against Mount Saint Mary College
