BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's basketball team earned a 65–56 victory over Lehman College on Tuesday night at The Hill Center.
The Bears built a 28–24 advantage at halftime after controlling the glass and generating second-chance scoring throughout the opening period. Austin Wrynn (Port Washington, N.Y.) opened the scoring with a layup just under two minutes into the contest, and the Bears used a 9–0 run midway through the half to establish early separation. Tied at 24 apiece with a little under two minutes in the half, Justin Munson (Middle Village, N.Y.) converted a layup while Justin Nazon (Staten Island, N.Y.) forced a steal and drained late free throws to help St. Joseph's carry a four-point lead into the break.
Jacob Idowu (Wiesbaden, Germany) connected on a three-pointer early in the period to push the lead to nine, and Munson followed with transition finishes and trips to the line as St. Joseph's maintained control. Lehman trimmed the deficit to four on multiple occasions, but St. Joseph's answered with interior baskets from Idowu and Wrynn, along with late free throws from Nazon and Colin Mills (White Plains, N.Y.), to close out the game.
Munson led all players with 17 points and three rebounds. Idowu added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Wrynn finished with nine points and five boards. Nazon contributed eight points and six rebounds, and Mills recorded seven points. Adam Jasaraj (Staten Island, N.Y.) added six rebounds.
