RIVERDALE, N.Y. —- The St. Joseph's University N.Y. - Brooklyn women's basketball team fell to Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening, 53-74, from the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Bears split the season series with the Dolphins, thanks to their triumph in mid-January.Â
How it Happened
Despite field goals from Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.), Jasmine Chan-Clayton (Melbourne, Australia), and Aaniya Telford (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the first quarter, the Dolphins established distance between themselves and the Bears at the end of the period, 21-8. The Bears closed the gap in the second, shooting 10-of-16 as a team with Telford and Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y.) at the helm of the team's scoring. Outscoring the hosts 25-17 in the stanza, the Bears trailed 38-33 at the break. Â
UMSV opened the third with a 10-0 run to pull ahead for good. The rookie trio of Chan-Clayton, Nikki Grech (Northville, Mich.), and Gabriella Cinque (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Bears' scoring efforts in the second half but were unable to come out on top, falling 74-53.
