BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn women's basketball team endured a 57-69 home loss to Farmingdale State College on Wednesday evening from The Hill Center.Â
How it Happened
The Bears overcame an early 6-1 deficit thanks to two sets of Nikki Grech (Northville, Mich.) free throws and a three-pointer from Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.), 8-6. The junior would drain a pair of triples in the final 90 seconds of the opening quarter to give SJBK a 15-13 edge.
Donovan's three-pointers were part of a 14-2 run that culminated in a Jasmine Chan-Clayton (Melbourne, Australia) trey and a 22-15 lead with 7:33 in the second. At 22-17, the Rams scored nine unanswered points to shift the lead back in their favor; holding on to a 32-31 halftime advantage.
Despite snatching the lead to start the third quarter, the Bears fell into a double-digit hole midway through the period, trailing 55-41 at the end of the stanza. Farmingdale State's advantage grew to its largest at 20, 63-43, before confirming the 69-57 result.
