BROOKLYN N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y - Brooklyn men's basketball team fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 59-76, on Saturday afternoon at The Hill Center.Â
How it Happened
The Bears came out hot, knocking down four three-pointers in the first six minutes with Justin Nazon (Staten Island, N.Y.) banking a pair. The Bears held a 21-15 lead after a Chris Williams layup with 10:28 remaining in the first half with Colion Mills (White Plains, N.Y.) chipping in seven points in the span. However, the Mariners would answer with a 21-3 run over the next 7:37 before leading 38-31 at the break.Â
The Mariners started the second half on a 9-0 run stretching their lead to 16 with 16:53 remaining. The Bears would cut the lead to 11 following a three by Williams and a Timothy Richardson (Ozone Park, N.Y.) layup but that would be as close as they would get as USMMA would win 76-59.Â
