PURCHASE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's volleyball team suffered a pair of straight-set losses against Sarah Lawrence College (16-25,18-25, 16-25) and Manhattanville University (17-25, 19-25, 22-25) on Saturday afternoon from Kennedy Gym.
How it Happened vs. Sarah Lawrence
The Bears and Gryphons traded points throughout the opening set. At 13-all, Sarah Lawrence closed the set on a 12-3 run to win 25-16. The Bears then held a 9-3 lead early in the second set courtesy of four kills from Jeremias Martinez (Elmhurst, N.Y.). The Gryphons ultimately drew the game level at 10 before leading by one and forcing an SJBK timeout. The period between both Bear timeouts saw four ties and as many lead changes. SLC claimed the set 25-18.
The Gryphons led for much of the third set. As a team, the Bears posted six kills in the set but it was not enough as Sarah Lawrence secured the sweep thanks to a 25-26 stanza.

Matthew Kotsatos (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had six kills.

How it Happened vs. Manhattanville
The Valiants took control early, building a significant lead with 14 kills and six aces in the opening set. Despite kills late from St. Joseph's, Manhattanville maintained their momentum to seal the win 25-17. The Bears led by no more than four in the second. While they led 13-9, the hosts used a nine-point run to swing the lead in their favor en route to a 25-19 set win.
The Valiants led early in the third but the Bears kept the set close with attacking contributions, led by Kotsatos. However, Manhattanville held on to win the set, 25-22, and the match 3-0.

Martinez totaled seven kills while Kotsatos had six and Frank Rivera registered four.

Cottone had a match-leading nine digs. Martinez, Guarraci, and Keiran McMullan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) all finished with four.
