OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn softball team dropped both ends of a Skyline Conference doubleheader against SUNY Old Westbury on Tuesday evening, falling 1-8 in the opener before a 3-6 setback in the nightcap.
How it Happened (Game 1)
St. Joseph's managed four hits in the opener and scored their lone run in the fourth inning when Leila Heller (Belle Chasse, La.) knocked in a run with a two-out single to score Lauren Van Der Kamp (Sacramento, Calif.), who had tripled earlier in the frame.
Old Westbury plated six runs over the first three innings, holding on for the win. The Panthers added two runs in the sixth to confirm the 8-1 result.
How it Happened (Game 2)
In game two, the Bears took a 3-2 lead by the third inning after a two-run single from Autumn Poppett (San Diego, Calif.) However, Old Westbury tied the contest in the bottom of the third before a trio of doubles in the sixth swung the lead in their favor.

Heller and Valarie Scott (Tucson, Ariz.) rounded out the Bears with hits.

Poppet was tabbed with the loss after 2.1 innings. Heller struck out four in 3.2 innings of relief.

Five Bears recorded hits – Poppett, Scott, Vivian Garcia (Eastvale, Calif.), Payton Walker (Eastvale, Calif.), and Kamryn Walls (Middle Village, N.Y.).
