NEWARK, N.J. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) women's soccer team faced a tough challenge on Saturday night, falling 0-11 on the road to Rutgers University-Newark at Frederick Douglass Field.
The Scarlet Raiders struck quickly, breaking through less than two minutes into the match before adding five more goals in the opening period. Goalkeeper Lindsay Dominguez registered nine first-half saves however, the hosts carried a 6-0 lead into the break.
After halftime, the Bears turned to Jaime Tuba in goal, who came up with six stops in the second stanza. Rutgers-Newark continued its attack, finding the net five more times before the final whistle to close out the match.
For St. Joseph's, Dominguez and Tuba combined for 15 total saves against a Scarlet Raiders side that generated 34 shots overall.
