NEW YORK — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's basketball team was defeated 95–75 by Yeshiva University on Saturday night at the Max Stern Athletic Center.
The Maccabees established control in the opening half, scoring the game's opening points and building a double-digit margin through the first ten minutes. They pushed their lead to its largest at the 7:50 mark, 36-16. Jacob Idowu (Wiesbaden, Germany) and Justin Munson (Middle Village, N.Y.) provided the Bears' offensive sparks throughout the half but Yeshiva carried a 48–30 advantage into the break.
St. Joseph's trimmed the deficit during a mid-half stretch to come within 15, 78-63, at the 5:47 mark. However, Yeshiva responded with sustained perimeter shooting and trips to the free-throw line, maintaining a multi-possession margin through the final minutes.
Munson led the Bears with 21 points, adding four rebounds and three steals. Nazareth Warren (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with 11 points, while Idowu recorded 10 points and six rebounds. Maven Cummings (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered eight points.
The Bears return to The Hill Center on Tuesday, January 21 against Sarah Lawrence College. Tip off is slated for 6 pm.
