MEDIA, PA. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) women's soccer team began their 2026 season with a 0-5 defeat to Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears' defense kept the Nittany Lions off the board in the opening 45 minutes as rookie goalkeeper Isabella Argento (Levittown, N.Y.) came up with eight saves. Juniors Lindsay Dominguez (Bellerose, N.Y.) and Jamie Tuba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had chances at net but were denied by Brandywine's shot-stopper.
The hosts opened the scoring inside the first 39 seconds of the second half, doubling their lead four minutes later. The Nittany Lions produced three more goals in the stanza to cap off their 5-0 season-opening win.
Argento came away with 20 saves as she spearheaded a group of five Bears to make their collegiate debuts.
The Bears return to action following a 12-day layoff on Monday, September 14 at Rutgers University-Newark. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm.
