NEW YORK — St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) first-year setter and right side Carissa Zwiefelhofer (North Bend, Wash./Mount Si) was named to the All-Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Second Team, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
In her debut season, Zwiefelhofer appeared in all 23 matches; concluding the season with a team-leading 260 kills to go with 200 assists, 187 digs, and 27 aces, good for second, fourth, and fourth on the squad.
The Washingtonian posted a pair of triple-doubles against Purchase and Rutgers-Camden and produced 54 kills, 45 assists, 37 digs, and seven aces to earn the Skyline's final Rookie of the Week of the season. Earlier in the campaign, Zwiefelhofer became the first player since Kaitlyn Intindola '20 to record a triple-double, doing so in the Bears' five-setter against McDaniel; ultimately ranking tied for second in the nation with six. Her 15-kill, 17-assist, 11-dig showing in the season finale against St. Joseph's (Long Island) propelled the Bears to their first triumph over the Golden Eagles since 2008.
Zwiefelhofer becomes the first SJBK rookie to earn All-Skyline Conference recognition since Cristina Morales' second-team selection in 2018. The Bears' 12-11 overall record marks the program's first back-to-back winning seasons since 2011-13 while their 6-4 league mark signifies the first winning season in Skyline play since 2018.
