Men’ Soccer Concludes Non-Conference Action at Hunter

YONKERS, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team closed out its non-conference slate on Wednesday night, dropping a 4-0 decision to Hunter College.

The Bears held firm through the opening 45 minutes, with goalkeeper Edwin Sacramento (Brooklyn, N.Y.) turning aside four first-half shots to keep the match scoreless at the intermission. St. Joseph's also generated four chances of their own in the period.

The Hawks broke through in the 54th minute and went on to add three more goals in the closing half-hour to secure the result. Sacramento finished with 10 saves on the night, including six after halftime, while the Bears tallied eight shots overall, three on frame, led by Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y.) and Francesco Di Paolo (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) with three attempts apiece.

The Bears will use the next 10 days to regroup before entering the thick of Skyline Conference play; traveling to Purchase College on Saturday, September 27 for a 2:30 pm kickoff.
