NEW YORK — Junior Payton Walker (Eastvale, Calif./Eleanor Roosevelt) of the St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) softball team has earned a spot on the All-Skyline Conference First Team, the conference announced Monday afternoon.Â
Walker served as the focal point of the Bears' offense, leading the roster in nearly every major category. Her .509 on-base percentage stood as the fourth-highest mark in the Skyline Conference, while she ranked fifth in slugging (.670) and sixth in batting average (.429). Throughout the campaign, she racked up 39 total hits and 22 RBI, with 13 of those hits going for extra bases.
The outfielder reached her 100th career hit during the Bears' conference opener against Mount Saint Mary in late March. Walker totaled 15 multi-hit games, including a pair of 3-for-4 performances against Brooklyn College and Old Westbury. Of her four home runs this season, three came in the twinbill sweep of Mount Saint Vincent, while her fourth was a walk-off winner against St. Joseph's Long Island last Friday.
This selection marks Walker's second consecutive appearance on the First Team. She has now secured conference honors in each of her first three seasons with the program, a streak that began when she was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2024.
Walker and the No. 4-seeded Bears begin their postseason run in the Skyline Conference Championship on Tuesday, May 5. They will host No. 5 SUNY Old Westbury at 7 p.m. at Farmingdale State College.
