NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —  Vivian Tomovich (San Diego, Calif./Serra) knocked two hits and drove in three runs as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) softball team knocked 14 hits and notched a 12-2, run-rule victory over Clarks Summit to open their stay at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic.

The Bears (1-0) rallied from a three-run deficit in game two and led Lebanon Valley 10-3, before the game was called in the fourth due to rain before going official and will finish as a no contest.

How it Happened vs. Clarks Summit

Four different Bears logged multi-hit efforts with Tomovich, Sierra Bedrin (Rocklin, Calif./Whitney), Emily Burroughs (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual), and Nicole Trani (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic) each rapping two hits each and driving in at least a run. In total eight different Bears combined for 14 hits on the day.

The Bears got on the board in the bottom of the first after Burroughs knocked an infield single, stole two bags, and trotted home on a passed ball. Trani knocked a single to left to bring home Ashleigh Hartwig for a 2-0 lead.

SJC broke the game open with a six-run third. Tomovich knocked a two-run single to double the lead. Maeve McKeon (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) and Arianna Heinsch (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) both followed Tomovich bringing home a run each to stretch the lead to 6-0, still with one out. Burroughs capped off the inning with a two-run, two-out double for an eight-run cushion.

Sophia Logreco (San Diego, Calif./Mission Hills) picked up her first collegiate hit and RBI in the fourth and Bella Hurtado (San Diego, Calif./Olympian) also notched her first RBI with a sac fly as the Bears tacked on four more runs.

Kaspar got the opening day start in the circle and surrendered three hits through four scoreless innings before coughing up two runs in the fifth, before Jessica Mecham (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills) picked up the final two outs to close out the run-rule win after five. Kaspar fanned four and notched the win in the circle.

Bella Gomez (Whittier, Calif./Sonora) also knocked her first collegiate hit with a leadoff single in the second.

How it Happened vs. Lebanon Valley

The Bears fell behind 3-0 after two before erupting for 10 runs in the third on just three hits. After a double-steal of second and home and two bases-loaded walks to tie the game, Hurtado highlighted the frame with a bases-loaded, three-run double that put SJC on top 6-3. Later in the frame, Trani belted a two-out, two-run single to cap off the 10-spot.

With a rain throughout the duration of the game, the game was called in the top of the fourth with the Bears up 10-3.
