BRONX, N.Y. — Jennifer Sarji and Gabriel Lopez were the top performers for St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn cross country teams at Sunday's Queensborough Invitational. The women's team finished in 13th place, while the men placed 21st overall.
Sarji secured 32nd place with a time of 26:00.1, ranking seventh among Skyline Conference competitors. Danielle Bourne followed closely, finishing 46th with a time of 27:32.9. Mercedes Perez completed the 5k in 28:42.3, securing 68th place, while Grace Kennedy, Kristen Donovan, and Joell McKeon all finished within the top 100.
Lopez, making his collegiate debut, completed the 8k in 39:07.0, finishing 107th, just eight seconds ahead of teammates Tariq Belma and Alex Helfant, who finished 108th (39:10.0) and 109th (39:15.0), respectively. Joshua Gordon, Stephan Direny, and Noah Gray all crossed the finish line within the hour mark.
Both Sarji and Lopez earned spots on the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll for their strong performances at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Bears will return to action on Sunday, October 12, at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational, held at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y., beginning at 11 a.m.
