Martinez Lands All-Skyline Men’s Volleyball Second Team; Ma To All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK — Following an impactful rookie season in Clinton Hill, Jeremias Martinez (Elmhurst, N.Y./Newtown) of the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. – Brooklyn men's volleyball team was recognized on the Skyline Conference All-Conference Second Team, announced by the league office on Tuesday. In addition, senior Levin Ma (Staten Island, N.Y./Port Richmond) was tabbed with a place on the Skyline All-Sportsmanship Team.

Martinez capped off the season with 299 kills and an average of 4.04 kills per set, both of which ranked in the league's top five and established new single-season program records. The rookie right side appeared in all but one match, recording double-digit kills in 59 percent of contests. He surpassed the 20-kill mark on four occasions, highlighted by a 28-kill, 10-dig performance against Bryn Athyn—his first collegiate double-double. Martinez followed it with a 26-kill, 20-dig ouring against Old Westbury en route to his first Skyline Rookie of the Week honors. He became the first player in program history to earn back-to-back weekly honors thanks to a combined 30 kills against Ramapo and New Jersey City; serving six aces against the latter.

Martinez's Second-Team selection is the eighth different Bear to earn a place on an All-Conference team since joining the league in 2016 and the first since the trio of Leonel Bravo '24, Alex Helfant '24, and Frank Tello '24 all received praise from the Skyline in 2023.

Ma, the Bears' All-Sportsmanship representative, contributed 27 digs and 12 service aces during the 2025 season. The senior had three aces in the team's season finale at Mount Saint Vincent and brought up a season-best four digs against Old Westbury. He concludes his collegiate career with 101 assists, 91 digs, 30 aces, and 16 kills.

Skyline Conference season awards, as well as the All-Conference teams, were determined by a vote of the league's 10 head coaches. The conference recognizes All-Sportsmanship Team members in all 19 of its championship sports, with each program announcing one recipient for his or her sportsmanlike demeanor – both in and out of competition.
