PURCHASE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday afternoon at Purchase College.

The Knights struck first in the 12th minute, finding the back of the net on a goal-line finish to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Saint Mary controlled much of the opening half, outshooting the Bears, 8-3, but St. Joseph's kept the deficit to one heading into halftime.

Just shy of the hour mark, the Knights doubled their advantage when a deflected shot found the back of the net in the 58th minute. The Bears continued to battle, cutting the deficit to one in the final minute. Veton Dudus (Murray Hill, N.Y.) found the net off a feed from Francisco Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y.), but St. Joseph's was unable to find an equalizer before time expired.

Garcia recorded three shots, while Edwin Sacremento (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made four saves in goal.

The Bears return to action on Friday, September 25, when they take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 5 p.m.
