Box Score

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — Jonathan Reno (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic) and Evan Sirakis (Hollis Hills, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) knocked down a combined 49 points in the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's basketball team's 83-76 victory over sibling school St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

Shooting 6-for-11 from the field inside of the opening 10 minutes saw the Bears hold a 20-8 advantage. The collective team effort, headlined by Reno leading all scorers with 11 points, saw the Bears' lead increase to 15, 40-25, at the half.

The largest lead of the day came at the 13:56 mark of the second half, 54-33, following back-to-back triples from Reno and James Mojica (South Ozone Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy). Despite the deficit, the Golden Eagles were within reach of the Bears; mounting a comeback effort in the waning moments of the contest. The seven-point differential at the end of the contest was the closest Long Island were to the Bears as the navy and gray held on to the 83-76 win.

  • Sirakis finished with 23 points, shooting 11-of-12 from the free-throw line. He also logged six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
