Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's basketball team endured a 57-51 home defeat to Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday night from The Hill Center.
How it Happened
The Gryphons held a slim 9-6 edge midway through the first half as both squads struggled to find the basket. Chris Williams' (Trenton, N.J./Nottingham) triple brought the Bears to within three at the seven-minute mark, 12-9. Moments later, Williams trimmed the deficit to two, 16-14, from the charity stripe. The visitors held on to the 23-18 margin at the intermission.
After Sarah Lawrence's initial make to begin the second half, the Bears churned out nine-consecutive points to take the lead at 27-25. St. Joseph's saw their largest lead of the contest at the 11:27 mark, 39-34, following five-straight points from Alex Macheras (Sandy Spring, Md./Sherwood)
The navy and gray clung to the lead before surrendering it on an Aiden Morel three-pointer at 7:44, 45-42. The Bears were able to tie the game shortly thereafter but the Gryphons preserved the six-point triumph, 57-51.

Jonathan Reno (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic) scored a game-high 18 points and collected four rebounds.

Evan Sirakis (Hollis Hills, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) followed with nine points and six rebounds.

Macheras and Jasaraj each had seven points. The former had a game-leading 11 rebounds while the latter collected seven.
