Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's basketball team cruised to a 93-44 defeat of Purchase College on Saturday afternoon at The Hill Center.
Destiny Hurt (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka), the Bears' lone senior, was honored prior to the game. She finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and as many steals.
How it Happened
The Bears fired on all cylinders to open the contest, holding a 13-0. The navy and gray led 23-10 after one as they forced the Panthers into nine first-quarter turnovers while Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas/William Howard Taft) and Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) combined for 17 points.
St. Joseph's kept Purchase off the board for much of the second quarter; scoring 25 consecutive points before the Panthers banked a free throw at the 2:04 mark. By the end of the first half, the Bears led 53-15 with Perez, Donovan, and Domenika Sanchez (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Santo Domingo de Guzman) all scoring 13-plus points.
Purchase's Carlye Graff logged 11 points in the third quarter, shooting 4-of-5 from the field and an efficient 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Her individual efforts wouldn't be enough as the Bears held on to their commanding lead, 74-30 at the end of the third, before clinching the 93-44 scoreline.

Perez led all players with 28 points, shooting 11-of-18. She forced a team-best nine steals and hauled seven rebounds.

Donovan and Sanchez each had 20 points and five rebounds. The tandem combined for five assists and as many steals.

Shanna Bliss (Astoria, N.Y./Bryant) finished with a season-best 14 rebounds, eclipsing her previous high of 10 boards in the Bears' initial meeting against Purchase.
