NEW YORK — Ganilo Quintos (Boston, Mass./Christ the King) of the St. Joseph's University, New York (Brooklyn) men's cross country team has been named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Quintos, who has led the Bears in all five meets this season, recorded a personal-best 8k time of 31:27.0 at Saturday's NJIT Highlander Invitational, placing 86th overall. He was one of eight Bears—across both the men's and women's teams—to post a personal record in Newark, where the men's squad placed 16th in the team standings.
The third Bear to ever garner Skyline Rookie of the Week praise, Quintos is the first member of the men's team since Alex Helfant '25 last season to earn the honor.
On the women's side, Jennifer Sarji (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) earned an honorable mention after pacing the Bears with a personal-best 5k mark of 23:02.8 at the same meet, finishing among the top four Skyline Conference runners in the field.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, October 18, at the St. Joseph's (Long Island) Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y.
