ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's and women's cross country teams took part in the Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Bard College at Montgomery Place.
With a large number of competing teams, both men's and women's meets were divided into two; red and white. The SJBK men ran first in the 8k red meet and placed seventh out of nine squads. Ganilo Quintos (Boston, Mass.) led the way for the Bears, completing the course in 32:32.4 to secure 40th place. Guillermo Victorio (Corona, N.Y.) followed in 50th (34:36.1) with Henry Sues (Alexandra, La.) 10 seconds behind him in 51st. Gabriel Lopez (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and Guillermo Noriega (Glendale, N.Y.) rounded out the Bears' scoring contingent, crossing the line inside 40 minutes with Joshua Gordon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Noah Gray (Panama City, Fla.) also finishing the meet within 50 minutes.
On the women's side, St. Joseph's competed in the white 6k meet and finished ninth overall. Jennifer Sarji (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Bears with a 30th-place time of 30:28.9, with Mercedes Perez (San Antonio, Texas) not far behind at 32:56.5. Vivian Garcia (Eastvale, Calif.), Meredith Vento (Wauwatosa, Wisc.), and Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y.) all placed inside the top 50 with finishes within the 35-minute threshold.
